Recently, three cruise lines (Crystal Cruises, American Queen Steamboat and Victory Cruise Line) have announced that they will require all staff and passengers be fully vaccinated with the Covid vaccine in order to board their sailings.
They have stated within their updated safety and health protocols that they will require all passengers to be fully inoculated with a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to sailing. Passengers will have to provide verified documentation that they’ve received a COVID-19 vaccine and will also have to complete an online questionnaire acknowledging the requirement before their cruise tickets will be issued.
This new protocol could be in addition to other health and safety measures like pre-boarding COVID-19 testing, pre-boarding temperature checks, reduced guest capacity, social distancing requirements, high-quality air ventilation and ship-wide cleaning and sanitation.
More information will be released as they get closer to resuming their sailings.
Virgin Voyages is already announced they are looking into putting this protocol in place on their ships. It could be all cruise lines join in on changing their protocols to require the vaccine for all staff and passengers, at least for the time being in order to get back to sailing again.
As always, the Covid protocols required by the CDC and recommended are always in fluid ever changing motion.
